How big is your tree? |
Do you have a tree that you think is bigger than any that you have seen in Cornwall? If so, you can contact the Cornwall Conservation Advisory Committee and its volunteers will come measure your tree to see just how big it is.
The committee, who includes Black Rock Forest executive director Bill Schuster and Cornwall tree warden Kate Goodspeed, is reviving the Great Cornwall Tree Contest and plan to award a certificate on Arbor Day 2010 to the person with the largest tree in his or her yard.
The contest is being conducted with the assistance of members of the Cornwall High School Environmental Club . Bill Schuster showed the students how to measure trees to determine their size and approximate age. Now they are ready to put their measuring skills to work.
If you would like to have your tree measured, you may call the Black Rock Forest at 534-4517.
