General News: Parking Fees Adjusted for Riverfront
|
The view from Donahue Memorial Park. |
Villagers will be paying less to park at the riverfront Donahue Memorial Park following the adoption of new permit fees by the Cornwall-on-Hudson board of trustees Monday night. Effective immediately, the price for the annual permit will drop from $10 to $5 for village residents and to $2 for village seniors.
The trustees made the change because they agreed that village tax revenue is spent on maintaining the park and that the residents should have a lower permit rate than people who live in the town of Cornwall who don’t otherwise pay for the upkeep. Town residents will now be charged $15 for the annual parking permit. Town seniors’ parking fees will remain at $10.
Fees for people who live outside of Cornwall will go up from $40 to $50 a year and commercial permits will be available for $50. A complete fee schedule is available at Village Hall.
If you’ve already bought your 2009 permit for $10 and you live in the village, you may stop by Village Hall and ask for a $5 refund. Town residents who already have a permit will not be charged an additional $5.
