Sensing Space: Contemporary Interpretations of the Landscape
Sensing Space: Contemporary Interpretations of the Landscape
The Ann Street Gallery is please to present a new exhibit, Sensing Space: Contemporary Interpretations of the Landscape, with an Artist Reception on Saturday, May 1 from 6-9 PM .
In this exhibit, eight different artists explore the relationship between our physical environment, the creative and psychological reactions to the natural landscape. The works in Sensing Space range from the imaginative to the fantastic, all expressing the idea that the landscape does not have to be about any particular physical location. Rather, we see works that are not so much about the visual representation of the landscape as subject matter, as they are about investigating the concept of landscape environments through individual interpretations. This may include the analyzing of an experience or even a memory. U sing the notion of landscape and geography, spaces are transformed into environments that shape the ways we interact with nature, as well as the ways the artists express their own subjective responses to the environments they observe.
Artists featured include:
Gail Biederman
Robmat Butler
Matthew Cox
Chad Curtis
Barron Hall
Tricia McLaughlin
Leah Wolff
The exhibition runs through May 29.
