General News: Village Trustee Race Shrinks
There is one less candidate in the race for two seats on the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson board of trustees. Dennis Wood, who announced his bid last week, has decided to withdraw and throw his support to fellow firefighter Doug Vatter, a first-time candidate, and incumbent trustee Mark Edsall.
When Wood announced his candidacy he said he was running in support of Doug Vatter and efforts of the Storm King Fire Engine Company. He also expressed concerns about how the village budget was being handled by the current board.
In addition to Edsall and Vatter, Andrew Argenio, Jim Kane, and Maryanne Rose O’Dell have announced their campaigns for trustee. Only Andrew Argenio has filed his petition, which he did Tuesday morning. In the mayoral race, Peter Neuman is challenging incumbent mayor Joseph Gross.
Candidates for election to the trustee seats and for mayor must submit their petitions by February 10. The election will be held on Wednesday, March 18 from 12 to 9 p.m.
Comments:
Doug Vatter has my vote. Doug is a successful businessman who has the capacity to get things done right the first time. He will have all of the interests of those that are concerned with run away government and never ending tax increases.
