General News: General Petraeus at the Super Bowl
For some football fans, the highlight of Sunday’s Super Bowl game may have been James Harrison’s breathtaking 100-yard play down the field for the Pittsburgh Steelers or Santonio Holmes’ game-clinching touchdown catch in the final seconds of the game.
For others who are more casual football fans, the rocking half-time show by Bruce Springsteen, with a beautifully choreographed fireworks display behind him, was the tops. But for many in Cornwall and Cornwall-on-Hudson, the sight of native son General David Petraeus doing the ceremonial coin toss before the start of the game was the proudest moment.
The NFL honored Gen. Petraeus at the start of Super Bowl XLIII, which was played at Tampa’s Raymond Stadium. Petraeus is currently stationed in Tampa, Florida, where he is the head of the U.S. Army Central Command.
The Arizona Cardinals won the coin toss, by the way, but lost the game by a score of 27-23.
