General News: Planning Board Chair Steps Down
|
Planning board chair Mary Aspin. |
Cornwall-on-Hudson planning board chair Mary Aspin is leaving after 27 years of service.
In a letter to the village mayor and trustees, Aspin said that it is time for younger residents to serve on the board and that she will be stepping aisde at the end of 2008.
She also noted that she would be available to share her years of knowledge working on issues regarding steep slopes, drainage, river views and view sheds that are likely to come up during the review and adoption of the village comprehensive plan.
“Cornwall-on-Hudson is a wonderful community,” she wrote, “and I am pleased to have been able to contribute to its continued success.
Aspin nearly stepped aside last April, when a shake-up in the planning board appeared imminent. Since then, John Farr and Barbara Corwin have left the board and AndrewArgenio and Mary Ann Rose have been appointed by Mayor Joseph Gross.
At Monday evening’s village board of trustee work session mayor Gross read Aspin’s letter and commented that he is considering asking Jeffrey Small, an architect who has sat on the board for two years, to ‘take over the helm.”
