General News: Electronic Disposal for Cornwall Residents
Cornwall residents will be able to dispose of their unwanted electronic items on Saturday, November 1st from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The town has decided to rent a dumpster that will be installed at the town highway department on Route 32. Town supervisor Kevin Quigley said that it is an expense for the town to provide the service and a fee will be charged for some items to help defray the costs.
Cornwall town residents will be able to dispose of two items without charge. The third item will cost $5, the fourth will be $10 and five or more items may be disposed of for $20.
Cornwall-on-Hudson residents can drop off their electronic items at the village Department of Public Works on Shore Road from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 19th and Saturday, October 25th.

Copiers (floor and desk models)

Mainframes

Printers

Remote Controls
Scanners
Servers
Stereos
Tape players
Telephones
Televisions (Cathode Ray Tubes, Plasma and LCDs)
Testing Equipment
Transparency Makers
Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems
VCRs

Stephan, could all of those extra items you mentioned be included as a "personal computer" which is put on the list as AN item. yay semantics

Well, Stephan, I on the other hand think the effort of the Town to set this up is a great idea. And since I don't dump the stuff in my trash or leave to decorate a roadside, our family has many more than five items. You are IMO missing the possibilities that this intake presents. If everyone has been hoarding old stuff in anticipation of an environmentally safe disposal, how in the world will one dumpster hold it all. And the prospect of seeing someone bring a 'mainframe' to turn in as one free item could provide real entertainment.
