General News: Jaeger Drive Concerns Addressed
Residents of Jaeger Drive may not get the relief they are seeking to calm traffic on their street.
A large number of the residents sent a letter to the Cornwall town board earlier this month asking that the speed limit be set at 25 mph. They also want a “Children at Play” sign erected and to see the street made one-way.
Supervisor Kevin Quigley said at Tuesday’s board meeting that the 30 mph speed limit in Cornwall may only be lowered in a school zone. He also nixed the idea of a “Children at Play” sign, noting that it could be interpreted as a license for children to play in the street, creating a liability for the town.
As for making the street one-way, Quigley said the issue requires further study. He invited the Jaeger Drive to attend a town board work session if they want to discuss their concerns.
