General News: Police Investigate Armed Robbery
Cornwall and New York State Police are looking for a white male who reportedly robbed an 18-year-old man at gunpoint on Mailler Avenue in Cornwall shortly after 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10.
Cornwall police chief Todd Hazard said that his department received a 911 call at 7:13 p.m. from the alleged victim who said a man displayed a handgun and demanded money, then fled in a small, dark, two-door vehicle.
The victim said the incident started to unfold outside the Destinta Movie Theatre in New Windsor when a person he didn’t know approached him and offered a ride, which the victim accepted. When he got out of the car on Mailler Avenue, the suspect brandished the gun and robbed him, the victim said.
The New York State Police and the Town of Cornwall Police Department are currently investigating the incident.
