Bill Schuster |
Bike riders are wanted to join Bill Schuster, head of The Black Rock Forest Consortium, for a 230-mile ride from The Cloisters in upper Manhattan to the Catskills and back again in early October.
The Green Ride will include 100 riders in the three-day excursion to raise money money for Black Rock Forest and for Sustainable Hudson Valley.
Riders don’t need to be fast but they need to start now to build up their endurance to cover the daily distances. Bill Schuster is organizing local training rides for any interested rider. (He can be reached at Black Rock Forest Consortium at 534-4517.)
Biker’s will stay overnight the first night at the Black Rock Forest Lodge, a masterpiece of state-of-the-art green construction, or may camp outside in tents. Delicious meals and snacks along the way will be provided. Participants who may want to take a break can be ferried with their bikes to the next rest stop by volunteers.
The ride is limited to the first 100 riders who register. To participate, riders pay a $100 registration fee and raise $1,800 by registration on Friday, October 10, 2008.
