General News: Schofield Promoted to Sergeant
|
Sergeant Douglas Schofield |
The town of Cornwall police department has a new sergeant, Douglas Schofield.
Sgt. Schofield, age 36, was sworn into office last week following a vote approving his appointment by the town board at a special meeting on Monday, July 21. The department now has three sergeants, including Sergeant Philip Sinagra and Sergeant Steven Dixon.
The new sergeant has been on the Cornwall police force since 2001, following six years as an officer with the New York Police Department.
Sgt. Schofield, an Orange County native, says that his first assignment was as a school resource officer at Cornwall Central High School, where he got to know many of the students who are now young adults in Cornwall.
He lives in Montgomery with his wife, Janet, who serves as the Cornwall police dispatcher during the day. The couple is raising four children.
