I went for my last Yankee game at the original Yankee Stadium last night.
My goal was to come home with a souvenir I could pass on to my children that could show what was special about the stadium, like catching a foul ball.
A hat or a t-shirt would not do.
The $9.00 beers were thirst quenching, but certainly not appropriate.
The NYC Police ticket for a 30-day-old expired inspection sticker in the parking lot was close, but not quite what I had in mind.
I remember taking my glove to the game as a kid just in case. My dad use to say,” keep the glove up in case it comes this way.”
My arm would be sore the next day from holding that stupid glove up in the air for hours.
Then I was looking through the photos I took and found a shot of the sunset over the top of the stadium and I knew I had made the catch, and I did not need the glove.
The hit was not made by Jeter and there was no foul.
