General News: DPW Employee Struck by Garbage Truck
An employee of the Cornwall-on-Hudson department of public works was injured Wednesday morning when he was run over by a garbage truck while on duty.
Cornwall-on-Hudson police chief Charles Williams says that 31-year-old Charles Faurot, a village resident, was flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for treatment of serious injuries.
Two trucks were collecting recyclable garbage at the time of the accident. Faurot was working on one truck when he was struck by the second vehicle.
The full extent of his injuries are not yet known but Chief Williams says that Faurot was conscious after the accident.
An investigation of the incident by the New York State Police is currently underway.
