General News: Volunteers Needed for Red Cross
American Red Cross to hold volunteer training at Orange County Emergency Services Center
New volunteers are needed to fill important roles locally
Goshen, N.Y. - Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus and Commissioner of Emergency Services Walter Koury announced that the County will host American Red Cross Volunteer Training on Saturday, November 7.
The instruction is free. However, registration is required. The training will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the County’s Emergency Services Center on 22 Wells Farm Road in Goshen. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
“It’s important that Orange County remains proactive in its approach to emergency preparedness,” Neuhaus said. “We will continue to work closely with the Red Cross and are always appreciative of the many volunteers who dedicate their time to assist the public in times of crisis.”
New Red Cross volunteers are needed in Orange County for many roles, including working with Home Fire Preparedness Teams installing smoke alarms and providing preparedness education, and assisting the Disaster Action Team in helping families displaced by fires.
“During times of disasters, often those citizens not affected desire to help those in need,” Koury said. “Their involvement with the American Red Cross will greatly assist those needy residents.”
