General News: 4th of July Pageant Plans Announced
|
Pageant members rehearse in 2007. |
Volunteers are needed for a Cornwall tradition – the annual Fourth of July pageant, “Courage in Cornwall: Highlights of Our Heritage.”
Volunteers of all ages are needed to tell the story of Cornwall’s founding, colonial life, and our region’s contributions to the American Revolution for Independence and Liberty.
They are recruiting for actors, chorus, assistant directors/producers, and stage crew, with choice speaking parts still available for male and female actors, and solo/duet opportunities for good singers. Those interested in volunteering can contact Dr. Dorfman at 534-2754 or Peter Erwin at [email protected].
Pageant rehearsals will take place at the Munger Cottage on Saturday, June 29, from 10:00 a.m. – 12 noon. and Sunday, June 30, from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. The dress rehearsal will be held at the Town of Cornwall Park near the Ring’s Pond gazebo on Wednesday, July 3, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. The pageant performance is at the Town of Cornwall Park at 6:30 p.m., July 4, giving pageant volunteers time to participate in the 5 p.m. parade and all other festivities.
“This is a marvelous opportunity to be part of a great Cornwall tradition,” said Dr. Dorfman. “The pageant is a living history lesson that explains Cornwall’s role in the birth of our Nation and why we commemorate the Fourth of July, and all are welcome to join in the celebration.”
