General News: Village Officer Deployed to Iraq
Village police office Raymondhan Maeang will be headed to Iraq next month along with his Marine Corps reserve unit.
On Monday, Mayor Joe Gross read a letter from the Marines informing the village that Maeang would be deployed to the war zone in May. As he read it, tears welled up in the mayor’s eyes and fought back the emotion.
A few minutes later he explained that it was the first time that someone he knew was deployed to Iraq. “It really hit home,” Gross said. “Officer Maeang is a total gentleman. I wish him well.”
