Helen Messina (Mimi), age 61, died at St. Luke’s Cornwall hospital in Newburgh, N.Y. on April 15, 2008. She was a resident of New Windsor, N.Y. and was the widow of Carmine Messina.
Messina was retired owner of the Quassiack Deli in New Windsor. She was born in Newburgh, New York on March 19, 1947, the daughter of John VanNetter and Myrtle Johnston.
She is survived by sons Steven Messina, of Newburgh, N.Y., Joseph Messina, of New Windsor, daughter Jodi Messina, of New Windsor, two brothers, John VanNetter, of New Windsor, and Donald VanNetter, of Middletown, N.Y., sisters Beverly Messina, of Newburgh, N.Y., Charlene Garcia, of Newburgh, N.Y., and Doris Arquitte, of Walden, N.Y., a grandchild, A.J. Grieve and a god daughter, Carlee Sasse. She was pre-deceased by her sister Barbara Redner.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, 18, 2008 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m..on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, Cornwall-on- Hudson, N.Y. Burial will follow in Cavalry Cemetery in New Windsor, N.Y.
