General News: Orange County Expands Recycling Program
Orange County expands recycling program to accept wider array of electronics at Transfer Stations
Goshen, N.Y. – Orange County has expanded its electronics recycling program to accept a wider range of electronics waste at the Newburgh and New Hampton Transfer Stations.
Along with televisions, Orange County Transfer Stations will now accept printers, fax machines, computer monitors and towers, scanners, small servers, cables/wires, laptops, cell and smart phones, tablets, video game consoles, DVD players, VCR’s, and digital music players. Televisions (e.g. Cathode Ray Tubes and flat screens) will still be accepted at a rate of $5 per unit with no restriction on size. All other accepted electronics will be accepted free of charge. Small appliances, microwaves and vacuum cleaners will not be accepted as a part of this program.
The Newburgh Waste Transfer Station is located off Route 17K, next door to Orange County Choppers. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays. The Goshen Waste Transfer Station is located on 21 Training Center Lane off of Route 17M. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
Residents can visit Orange County’s website at www.orangecountygov.com/efs for holiday schedules and other information about solid waste and recyclables accepted at Orange County Transfer Stations.
