General News: It's A Mystery!

The Cat in the Hat
The Cat in the Hat
A mystery guest reader, that is. The Cornwall Public Library has lined up some special members of the community to come in and read their favorite children's books this Friday, March 2.

The mystery readers will appear at two sessions, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and families are invited to attend. No one will admit to knowing the identities of the readers, but speculation includes a local athlete, firefighter, police officer and/or a village or town leader.

The readings are all part of the National Education Association's Read Across America Day, which is designed to send a clear message to children that reading is fun and important.

March 2 is also the birthday of famed children's author Dr. Seuss and the 50th anniversary of the publication of his book, The Cat in the Hat. To mark the date, the NEA has come up with a special celebration called Project 236. At 2:36 p.m., voices around the country will read aloud 236 words from that book. The public is invited to join in at the Cornwall Public Library.
