General News: Notes from the Town Board Work Session
Cornwall Town Board Work Session Meeting 8/5/19
By Hannah Comitz
At the meeting there was a pretty large crowd and almost all the seats were full. There were multiple topics on the agenda regarding the town.
HVSPCA
The Pennies for Paws Fundraiser was originally scheduled in June and is now moved to October 13th. The event will take place from 12pm-5pm.
DEP
Maintenance will be conducted on water Shaft 7 near the route 218 entrance. The town will give the workers a building permit.
Town Hall Generator
A grant was received from Senator Larkin to replace the town hall generator which is over 30 years old. They want to replace it with a new one that will operate the entire town hall and police station during emergencies.
Potentially Hazardous Tree
Tom DiCatrado noticed some potentially hazardous trees on Angola road and requested the town have them removed. The trees, which are on town property, could be a threat during bad weather and easily fall over. They are on the park property on the other side of Tom’s property. Tom has agreed to pay for the trees to be removed since he brought up the issue and it wasn’t the town that ruled them unsafe.
Bridge Projects
The Willow ave bridge will be replaced by 2020. The Quaker ave and Angola road bridges will both be completed by 2021. It will immensely improve the area aesthetically. They will have pedestrian bridge installed during the projects where necessary.
Zoning Review
The next zoning review meeting dates were set for Tuesday August 20th and August 27th.
Taylor Road Petition
There was a petition collected that was signed by 40 residents on Taylor road. The residents were concerned about noise and trash in the area. The board will discuss this on the meeting Monday night.
