General News: Skoufis Announces Grants for Road Repair
From the Office of Assemblyman James Skoufis
10/29/18
Assemblyman James Skoufis (D-Woodbury) has announced two grants, each in the amount of $125,000, to assist in rehabilitating local roadways in Cornwall and Cornwall-on-Hudson.
One grant will allow road resurfacing of approximately 1.4 miles of Shore Road in Cornwall-on-Hudson. In freeing up funding that the village had been saving for Shore Road, the Cornwall-on-Hudson will now also be able to pave Curie Roar, Idlewild Park Drive, and repair sidewalks. These projects will take place in 2019.
“We appreciate the funding Assemblyman Skoufis has obtained for us to pave Shore Road,” said Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Superintendent of Public Works David Halvorsen. “This grant will now enable the Village to pave Curie Road and other roads such as Idlewild Park Drive as well as repair sections of sidewalk from Academy Avenue to Avenue A.”
The other grant will repave the state DOT’s Quaker Avenue ramps on and off Route 9W in Cornwall. This project will take place this week.
“The Town of Cornwall appreciates Assemblyman Skoufis’s continued support,” said Supervisor Richard Randazzo. “This funding will provide for smoother access on and off Route 9W.”
“One of my main objectives as an Assemblyman has been to assist our local municipalities repave roadways,” explained Skoufis. “I’m pleased to add these Cornwall roads to the list of roadways I’ve helped get rehabilitated.”
