General News: Skoufis Secures Funding for Library
Assemblyman Skoufis Secures Funding to Update Local Libraries
Assemblyman James Skoufis (D-Woodbury) announced he helped secure over $300,000 in state construction grants for improvements to libraries in Orange County.
“Libraries help younger and older minds fall in love with reading and learning,” said Skoufis. “But increasingly, they also provide kids and adults alike with critical resources like Internet access, programming, and job search assistance. That’s why I fought for this funding: to help our local libraries continue serving as community hubs for years to come.”
The funding will go to a number of different projects, including:
Over $135,000 for the Moffat Library of Washingtonville to renovate a neighboring building, which will be used as a meeting and storage space;
Over $116,000 to renovate Cornwall Public Library;
Over $49,000 for utility infrastructure improvements to the new Goshen Public Library and Historical Society; and
Over $25,000 to repave the Highland Falls Library parking lot.
