General News: CHICAGO: High School Edition
CHICAGO Offers a True Night Out
Step It Up Summer Stage in Cornwall-on-Hudson will be presenting the first regional production of CHICAGO: High School Edition this Friday and Saturday August 10th & 11th at 7pm at the Walter Reade, Jr. Theatre at Storm King School. The show has its origins in real-life, high profile crimes, criminals and trials of the 1920s. Set in Prohibition-era Chicago, themes of greed, scandal, political and judicial injustice resonate as much today as when the original play was written.
Directed by T.J. Larke, with Karen Eremin, the show features a cast of 23 young adults who seem to have been born for the roles they play in this show. Max Finkelstein directs a seven piece orchestra, whose first notes of this magnificently raunchy, period jazz score set the tone for an exceptional evening. Choreography features a blend of the original iconic Bob Fosse work, and has been taught by Larke, Nina Johnson and Montana Nogrady.
Tickets may be reserved for assigned seating by calling 534-3645, or may be purchased in person Thursday evening, August 9th from 4-6pm at the Walter Reade, Jr. Theatre. All seats are $15.00. This is a rare opportunity to see a show locally that is still running and in its 20th year on Broadway. Material is suitable for audience 10 and up. Come see the Razzle Dazzle. This will be the best fifteen dollars you spend all summer.
