General News: Operation Gratitude project at the library
Operation Gratitude project at the library
CORNWALL, NY – The Cornwall Public Library is inviting the community to participate in Operation Gratitude. It is an opportunity for people to “say thank you to all who serve” by writing letters or cards that will be included in care packages sent to service men and women and their families.
Operation Gratitude is a non-profit, volunteer-based corporation, funded entirely by private donations. Every year, they send over 200,000 care packages to service men and women deployed overseas, to their children left behind, and to new recruits, veterans, first responders, wounded heroes and their care givers. Each package contains food, hygiene products, entertainment and handmade items, as well as personal letters of support written by American children and adults. Since 2003, Operation Gratitude volunteers have assembled and shipped more than 1.6 million care packages.
The library will be collecting notes until February 28th. You can drop your letters off at the front desk, or stop by and write one using materials supplied by the library. For more information about Operation Gratitude please visit their website at www.operationgratitude.com.
