General News: Village Recycling and Parking Updates
01/05/2016
The village of Cornwall-on-Hudson is going back to weekly recycling pick-up starting Wednesday, January 6, 2016. The current program of single stream recycling will continue where paper, cardboard, plastic and glass etc. can be mixed in one container.
The village used to have weekly recycling but changed to bi-weekly in 2008 to save in fuel costs, overtime pay and wear-and-tear on the DPW vehicles.
During the November monthly board meeting, DPW Superintendent Halvorsen reported that signs were posted around the village the quote the Village Code parking regulations during and after snow storms. The Code Red system will be used to warn residents to move their vehicles or they will be towed so that DPW trucks can clear the roads and sidewalks.
Residents are encouraged to sign up for Code Red notifications on the village website Code Red enrollment page.
Comments:
Perhaps this isn't the full story, but I'm left wondering what is wrong with saving taxpayer money in reduced fuel consumption, overtime pay and vehicle maintenance?
