General News: Gutter Repair Accident kills Man
From The Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department
On Friday, November 27, 2015, at approximately 10:45am, the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department, Town of Cornwall Police Department, Storm King Engine Fire Company, Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance and “EMSTAR” Paramedics responded to #163 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y., for report off a male subject that had fallen off a roof.
Upon further investigation it was revealed that a male subject, subsequently identified as being, Marco Morocho, age 38, of Spring Valley, N.Y., employed by “Serrano II Roofing Company”, Middletown, N.Y., was performing gutter repair work in the rear of a private residence located at #163 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y. Mr. Morocho was reportedly standing on a folding metal/ aluminum ladder atop the residence rear sub- roof repairing gutters when he accidentally fell off the ladder, falling onto the sub- roof and then onto a cement walk way on the ground. Mr. Morocho sustained serious head injuries, going into cardiac arrest at the scene and was transported to Cornwall Hospital Emergency Room where he did succumb to his injuries upon arrival to the hospital.
“OSHA”, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, were notified of the incident and will be following up on same.

I was the person that called 911 on this incident and it is unacceptable how much time it took all of the above to respond to this man's accident. The delayed response is what killed him. The lack of attentiveness in this town's police and emergency services is scary!!! Thanks Chief!

Stephanie if your displeased with the response times of the police, volunteer fire department and volunteer ambulance maybe you should volunteer or help the community in gaining more people to volunteer. We are not paid. We are not at the firehouse 24/7 we have jobs and person lives just like you! The only difference is we take time out of our busy day to help our citizens. Unfortunately for this man he died the moment he hit the ground.

Stephanie Campbell: SHAME ON YOU! How dare you blame our local VOLUNTEERS and heros! I was listening to the scanner that day and I can sure as hell tell you that FD VOLUNTEERS were on scene rendering aid well within the required time given by NFPA (within minutes). As soon as FD/EMS arrived on scene a helicopter was immediately called to the elementary school for an airlift to a local trauma center. Unfortunately, this man went into cardiac arrest due to his injuries, certainly not because of on scene personel and response times. These VOLUNTEERS have day jobs and families and when someone has an emergency they drop everything in a moments notice to go help. Not to mention all the training they have to put in to become firefighters and EMT's, which they do for free as well. If you are unhappy with services please feel free to come on down and volunteer your time to help out the community instead of blaming our local heros behind a keyboard!
