Robert E. Witt, of Salisbury Mills, entered into rest on Monday, July 20, 2015. He was 94.
Son of the late Emil and Mary Stoller Witt, he was born February 8, 1921 in New York, NY. He was married to the late Edna (Runkel) Witt, who predeceased him in 1984.
Bob proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, where he worked with the 8th Division in Radar Installation and Repair on B17 Bombers in England. After his service, he obtained his Juris DoctorDegree and became an Attorney for the Internal Revenue Service in New York City. He was an avid fisherman, a superb marksman, enjoyed playing poker and bridge, and was an active life member of Black Rock Fish & Game Club. Bob will be fondly remembered as a true gentleman.
He is survived by his nephew, Robert L. Witt; his close friends, MaryJane and George Gisselbrecht; and the entire Mulholland Family. In addition to his wife, Edna, he was predeceased by his brother, Alfred, and his dear friend and bridge partner, Carol Ehrenzeller.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 23 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, July 24 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 1 Noor Rd., Mountainville, NY.
