General News: Playground Project Seeks Volunteers
Memorial Playground Build Schedule and Volunteer Sign Up
Site preparation is underway and in 2 weeks the site will be ready to begin the memorial playground at Cornwall's Willow Avenue Elementary School. Volunteers are needed according to the schedule provided by Parkitects:
Friday August 7th 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Preparation Day:
•10:00 5 volunteers help Parkitects stake out the area.
•11:00 Hole drilling and excavation of footing pits.
•1:00 10-15 volunteers help sort parts, drill holes, and pour footings.
• Volunteers may work partial or full day.
Saturday August 8th 8:00 am - 7:00 pm
Equipment Installation:
•30-35 volunteers, preferably with trades experience, install play area and pour concrete; build stone base for rubber surfacing.
•Volunteers may work partial or full day.
Saturday August 15th 8:00 am to 1:30 pm Finishing Touches:
•45-50 volunteers install wood fiber surfacing, paint asphalt area games, and install landscaping along walkway.
•Volunteers may work partial or full day.
Beverages, snacks, and lunch will be provided. Volunteers are needed to assist with volunteer registration, tool station, beverage station, snacks, and meals and other tasks.
