General News: Notes from Cornwall Town Board Work Session
Town of Cornwall Work Session
By Emma Friedrich
CORNWALL, NY - The work session on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 was met with a small group of attendees, mainly consisting of those who needed to speak with the Board. Unfortunately, Supervisor Randy Clark was not in attendance, so the rest of the board didn’t want to make any major votes without him.
However, there were a few major topics that were mentioned:
NYMA is allowing surveyors onto the property, but due to timing and weather, as of now, it hasn’t occurred.
The Sands Ring Homestead is asking the board to hire a Historical Architect and Grant Writer. According to Board of Trustees member, Ron Tulloch, they have narrowed the options down to two Candidates. However, the Town Board wants estimates in writing and confirmed pricing before they move forward.
Highland Sand & Gravel of Woodbury was also on the Agenda. No one was at the meeting to represent the company. However, the board explained that the company is contaminating Woodbury/Moodna Creek. The company has supposedly been fined by the DEC before, but they continue to take a majority of the water out of the creek, as well as, dump contaminates into the Creek. The Town Board will be talking closely with the Town of Woodbury.
The Town Board also wants to remind everyone to sign up for text or email emergency/weather Alerts. To sign up please follow this link: http://cornwallny.gov/Cornwall-Online/Email-Text-Alerts
