There's a village called Annaville named after Anna Hess. This village is complete with a church, police station, a hospital, and plenty of stores to shop, smiling people and even a carousel in the village's amusement park. Built by the Hess family who lives in New Windsor NY, Annaville is a festive holiday utopia that would be a great addition to any holiday window display.
Robert, Lisa and their two sons Robbie and Daniel Hess all take a role in building Annaville. It started with Robert's mother Anna Hess, who work for on the project for about 10 years, with one table and about 15 buildings. Robert took over the project when his sons where old enough to help. They were around 5 and 8 years old. Six tables and 65 buildings later the village continues to grow and become a their family holiday tradition.
Seventeen year old Daniel Hess does the electric work. The Cornwall high-school senior, who wants to go to culinary school, taught himself how to bring the village to life, through lights and moving fixtures. With one remote control, he turns on all the buildings lights, besides the bank that is “closed during the holidays,” Robert said. He makes the train move, the people skate in the pond, and a hot air balloon move up and down, just to name a few things. This is after his fourteen year old brother Robbie Hess, a student of Cornwall middle school designs and set up where the buildings,cars and people will go. Robert continues to find pieces to to add to their family collection. He even creates small pieces that can't be found in a store, bringing a family touch to their holiday project. He also makes specialty tables designed to hide the wires that go through the town for a more realistic look. Lisa, who enjoys the family time the village has created for her family, helps by putting it all away after the holidays.
The Annaville town is complete every Thanksgiving Day and taken down mid January. The large village takes up most of the space in the Hess's basement of their home. As soon as you enter the room there's a wow factor that draws your attention to a world that's colorful and festive. The Hess family encourages family and friends to come through to see the village. They already have several students from Cornwall schools come through. The are looking forward to sharing it with more children. “We put a lot of effort into it. It's really nice when people come over and see how much hard work we put into it,” said Daniel.
