General News: Fatal Accident on Rt 9W

On Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 8:54 A.M. the New Windsor Police Department responded to Rt. 9w southbound near the New Windsor/Cornwall town line for a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival a vehicle was located off the road, flipped over in the woods. A single victim was located inside the vehicle. The victim was removed and transported by New Windsor Ambulance to St. Lukes Hospital Newburgh. At approximately 9:55 A.M. the driver/victim a 57 year old man from Washingtonville was pronounced dead. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family members. The New Windsor Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident. Police are looking into whether a medical emergency prior to the accident could have been a contributing factor to the accident. New Windsor Police were assisted at the scene by Cornwall and New York State Police, Vails Gate Fire Department and New Windsor Ambulance.
