Citizens and members of local government gathered in Cornwall Town Hall on Tuesday night, awaiting the election results. Those in attendance were particularly interested in the results for the position of Cornwall Town Justice. The race for this position was between Michael O’Connor and Lynn Beesecker.
When all the votes were tallied, 2,698 went to Beesecker, while 2,623 went to O’Connor. However, it was noted that 476 absentee ballots had been given out to Cornwall voters. An absentee ballot must be cast by November 19 to be counted. With such a high number of votes remaining to be counted, it is believed that the result of the absentee ballot votes may ultimately determine the end results of this election.
Cornwall Town Clerk Renata McGee was reelected. She ran uncontested this year.
