John M. (Jackie) Fogarty passed away peacefully at Valley View Nursing Home on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 . He was 86 years old . The son of William and Sarah Donnelly Fogarty , He was born on September 23, 1926 in St. Lukes Hospital, Newburgh NY.He lived most of his life in Cornwall-On-Hudson and was proprietor of Fogarty’s Bar and Grill.
He is survived by his sister and brother –in-law Kathleen and J. Sudler Cockey III of Cornwall . his nephew James S. Cockey IV and his wife Stephanie of VA, His nieces Mary Kate Linnihan and her husband Kevin of Long Island and Caroline LaFleur and her husband David of CT. He is further survived by two great nieces and four great nephews as well as by his beloved and devoted cousins Sister Nancy Moroney of Newburgh, NY and Jean Bouton of Cornwall, NY .
Born with cerebral Palsy , Jackie dealt with his handicap with courage, determination and a great sense of humor. A resident of what is now Valley View for the past 27 years, He received excellent medical care as well as the friendship and compassion of a very dedicated staff. They made his life happy and worth living many years beyond all expectations. A special thank you to Kim and the Staff on Glenmere 2.
There will be visitation for family and friends from 9:30-10:30 on Friday 10/26/12 at Quigley Bros Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson NY. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson NY 12520 Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery- Cornwall NY.
