Obituaries: Thomas Jude Riley, Sr.

Mr. Thomas Jude Riley Sr., of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012.
Thomas was married to Shirley Cerone Riley for 53 years. He spent the last year caring for his beloved wife and lived only two weeks after her death.
After graduating from Cornwall High School in 1952, he served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific, the Mediterranean, and South America. He worked for Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation and attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh, NY, where he married his wife in 1958. He was a lifetime member of Storm King Engine Company. He will be remembered fondly as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his daughter, Stacia Downey and her husband, John; sons: Thomas Jr. and his wife, Julie, Ernest and his wife, Kathleen, and Sam and his wife, Jennifer; grandchildren: Anna, Thomas III, John, Sean, Kathryn, Thomas, Patrick, Brenna, Mary, Elizabeth, Connor and Grace; his brother, John Riley and his wife, Leslie; his sister, Patricia Black; sister-in-law, Patricia Riley; brothers-in-law, Robert Quillin, Anthony J. Cerone, Samuel G. Cerone, Jr. and his wife, Kathryn and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 30 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 31 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
