John A. Craig of New Windsor entered into rest on Monday, February 13, 2012 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 91.
The son of the late Joseph and Mary Moore Craig he was born on November 15, 1920 in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.
John served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Bon Homme Richard CV-31. He retired from West Point in 1985. He graduated from Cornwall Central High School in 1942. John was a member of the VFW Post 1161 in the Town of Newburgh.
Survivors include two daughters; Sharon Mitchell and husband Mark of Newburgh, and Kathy Salsby of New Windsor; 5 grandchildren; Karissa Viglietta, Sarah Mitchell and fiance Benny, Matthew Mitchell and fiance Kayla, Kris Salsby and wife Rebecca, Zachary Mitchell; 4 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Earl and brother Warren Craig. He was predeceased by his wife Mary.
Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
