Obituaries: Rita Christine WInchell Shearer

Rita Christine Winchell Shearer of Cornwall, Montgomery and Englewood, FL passed from this life and entered God’s loving care on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh, NY. She was 84.
The daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Walther Rosenthal she was born on December 25, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY.
Rita lived in Cornwall for 60 years. She was very involved in the Presbyterian Church and also served as a Friend of the Cornwall Library.
She loved gardening, animals and was an avid bridge player who achieved Life Master status.
Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and she will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her husband Jack, at home; daughters Lenora Ransom and husband Greg of Cornwall-on-Hudson and Amy Anderson-Winchell and husband Paul of Cornwall-on-Hudson; son Charles David Winchell and wife Ellen of Cornwall-on-Hudson; grandchildren Aaron Anderson-Winchell and wife Kara; Marta Anderson-Winchell, Alli Winchell and Charles Winchell.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 12:00 noon at Cornwall Presbyterian Church, 222 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.
