A fire at the Brookside Condominiums Sunday night has displaced the occupants of two units at the complex on Main Street.
Cornwall fire chief Patrick Hines said that fire started in the bedroom of a second-floor unit. No one was home at the time but several people called in reports of smoke coming from the condo. Chief Hines said the cause of the blaze was electrical.
Hines added that firefighters from Highland Engine Company had to force entry into the apartment and, with the aid of Mountainville Engine Company, they were able to contain the blaze to the bedroom.
Smoke and water damage, however, left the second-floor apartment, and the unit below it, uninhabitable.
The fire was under control and both engine companies were back in service after 90 minutes, Hines said. No injuries were reported.
