A new film by George Lucas about the World War Two Tuskegee Airmen will be shown in a free private screening for young adults this Saturday, January 28, at 9:30 am, at the Showtime Cinema in Newburgh.
The local chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen is offering the free screening of “Red Tails,” a high-flying action epic inspired by the heroic exploits of the first all African-American aerial combat unit, the Tuskegee Airmen. Anthony Hemingway (“The Wire”) directs this gripping World War II actioner, which features a powerful ensemble cast including Oscar-winner Cuba Gooding Jr. and Oscar nominee Terrence Howard. George Lucas serves as executive producer.
“The Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter is offering a free opportunity for young adults to see this full-length feature because it is an important film about the overseas exploits of the famed Tuskegee Airmen,” said chapter President Glen Fraser. “It is important that all young people get a chance to see that with opportunity, we can achieve.”
Students ages 11-17 are invited to attend the private screening without a parent or chaperone. All students younger than 11 years old must attend with a parent or chaperone. All students will receive FREE admission, parents and chaperones will be charged a fee of $10. The screening was re-scheduled from January 21, when snow caused a cancellation.
Contact the chapter at 845-838-7848 for prior registration. Seats are limited, so call today. Showtime Cinemas is located at 1420 Route 300, Newburgh, NY.
