The Cornwall varsity cheerleading squad is going to great heights this season, with plans to compete nationally in Kentucky later this winter. The varsity cheerleaders won first place in the opening competition on January 7 in Monticello and second place in Pine Bush this past Sunday when they competed against eight teams.
The junior varsity team took second place in the January 7 competition and they have made plans to compete with teams from around the country in Atlantic City.
Connie Wagner, whose daughter Nikki is one of 12 seniors on the varsity cheerleading team, says the team is holding several fundraisers in the weeks ahead and she and team coach Betty Bennett are looking for people to come out to support the team.
Fundraisers are:
- Tuesday, January 24 - Eat at Chilis from 4-11pm and bring coupon (can get from any cheerleader or by emailing Connie Wagner at [email protected]) and Chilis will donate 10% of your total bill to CCHS Cheerleaders in their quest to Nationals in Kentucky.
- Thursday, Feb 2 - Cheer Clinic at Cornwall Central High School
- Wednesday, Feb 22 - Cheer Clinic at Willow Ave School
