The village of Cornwall-on-Hudson has lifted the emergency order asking for water to be conserved until the water supply could be restored. Mayor Brendan Coyne rescinded the order effective at noon on January 19.
The village water system had been impacted by the demand for water to fight the huge fire that ravaged the Cornwall Industrial Park starting Sunday morning. That fire was not brought under control until Monday afternoon.
Water superintendent Robert June says that while the water supply is essentially operating normally he is still working on areas of low pressure in the system. He said that contractors from the pressure valve company are reviewing all of the valves in the system to determine what is causing the problem.
