Obituaries: Laura A. Barley

Laura A. Barley of Cornwall, NY died November 3, 2011 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital of Newburgh, NY. She was 90.

Daughter of Marziano Antona and Josephine Tacchella Antona, she was born in Washingtonville, NY on December 8, 1920. Mrs. Barley was a Retired Clerk Cadet Personnel from USMA West Point. She was married to the late Royal Barley who passed on June 8, 2005.

Survivors include her son, Roy Barley and his wife, Sharon of Springville, NY; brother, Joseph Antona and his wife, Marge of Washingtonville; sisters: Marguerite Re of Washingtonville, Josephine Rowe and her husband, George of Monroe, NY; grandchildren, Matthew and Allison Barley; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Piero (Peter) Antona; sisters: Bianca Floriano, Mary Myszelow, Louise Lee and Theresa Barbieri; also nephews, William Roth and Sam Mancino.

She was a member of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, Vails Gate Fire District Ladies Auxiliary, Golden Age Club of Cornwall, American Legion Post 353 of Cornwall, Catholic Daughters of America Court Rita #264 of Cornwall-On-Hudson.

A family statement reads: "She was a hard working daughter, caring sister, devoted wife and mother. Laura was a very appreciative person and never neglected to say please or thank you, Virginia and Mary Jo will never forget her inspiration."

Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday November 6 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday November 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas of Canterbury, 340 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson. Burial is to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor, NY.
