General News: Final Vote Count Picks Republican Winners
September 20, 2011
Elizabeth Longinott and Randy Clark held on to their leads when Orange County Board of Elections Commissioner David C. Green counted 15 absentee ballots that had been submitted in last Tuesday's Republican primary election to choose two candidates for Cornwall town board.
The final tally in that three-way race is: Elizabeth Longinott, 230, Randy Clark, 218, and J. Kerry McGuinness, 215.
Former Cornwall tax receiver Longinott and incumbent town councilman Clark will now appear on the ballot in the November 8 general election on the Republican line. Current incumbent board member McGuiness will still appear on the ballot, under the Independence and Conservative Parties. Councilman Clark will appear on a second line, the Cornwall First Party, which he founded this summer. Longinett has the backing of the Conservative Party.
