General News: School Alerts Public to Mock Car Crash
May 18, 2011
Cornwall High School principal Dr. Frank Sheboy is warning residents of Cornwall and New Windsor not to be concerned next Tuesday morning if they hear sirens and helicopters at the school on Route 94. They’re only taking part in a mock DWI scenario that is designed to re-create a fatal crash scene in real time. It’s held at CCHS every two years.
From 9 to 10 am, people can expect to see fire companies, police, ambulances and a MedEvac helicopter responding to the scene.
“We appreciate your understanding of the importance of this simulation to keeping the children of our community safe and aware of the dangers of driving under the influence,” Dr. Sheboy said in a press release. He also apologized for any inconvenience that may occur as a result of this simulation.
On Wednesday, students will take part in the Not One More Safe Driving Forum at 7 pm . Attendance by parents and students is mandatory if a student (Senior next year) wishes to apply for a parking place next year, Sheboy added.
