Voters in Cornwall approved the 2011-2012 school budget on Tuesday, with 2,044 people casting their ballots. The final vote tally for the $58.6 million budget was 1,156 to 888.
The turnout this year was down about 500 voters from last year, when 2,556 voters approved the budget by a margin of 1,772 to 784.
Three members of the Cornwall Board of Education were also up for re-election. Incumbets Charles Frankel, James Congelli and Larry Berger all reclaimed their board seats. Berger carried 1216 votes, Congelli took 1278 and Frankel garnered 1236. The sole challenger, Tirek Gayle, failed to claim a seat on the board with 977 votes.
