The library is honored and pleased to announce that Senator Bill Larkin has secured a $200,000 grant to assist with replacement of the library’s roof. This funding is provided through the State and Municipal Facilities Capital program (SAM) and is administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY).
On Thursday, May 25, Senator Larkin paid a visit to the library to present a check to Library Director Mary Lou Carolan, the Library Board of Trustees, staff and Friends of the Library. Representatives from local government, the school district and patrons were also present. Sasha Cuthbert, one of the young members of the library, presented Senator Larkin with a framed picture of a delightful drawing she had made for the library entitled “The Library Rocks!” Janine Bixler, Library Board of Trustees President, also presented Senator Larkin with a plaque thanking him for his long-term commitment to the library, which will hang in the library lobby.
Carolan stated that this wonderful and generous support will enable the library to continue its focus on programming and services for the public, now that this significant infrastructure improvement will be funded. Senator Larkin told an appreciative audience how important libraries have been to him, and to the communities that support their mission.
The library would like to thank Senator Larkin for this extremely generous grant, his support over the years, and for championing libraries in New York State.
