J. O’Neil Kelly, died peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2016, at Saratoga Hospital, with his loving family at his side.
A resident of Ballston Spa, NY for the last 11 years, O’Neil was born in Washington D.C., in 1936 and was a graduate of Archbishop Stepanac High School, Cornell University and Fordham Law School. Prior to moving to Ballston Spa, O’Neil resided in Cornwall, NY where he raised his family with his wife, the late Carol Dexter Kelly. He retired from Sichol & Hicks Law Firm in 2006. O’Neil enjoyed spending time with his family, bad jokes, magic, reading, classical music, horse racing, and crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his son David Kelly (Melissa) of Springfield, VA, his daughter Laurie Sickles (Matthew) of Ballston Spa, NY, son Paul Kelly (Kathy) of Beacon, NY, daughter-in-law Barbara Kelly of New Paltz, NY, sister Ellen Kelly of Albuquerque, NM, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is pre-deceased by his son Brian Kelly, granddaughter Hannah Kelly, his brother Peter Kelly and his parents Neil and Ruth Kelly.
A local Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Monday, November 7, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 167 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 9th from 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Inurment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, NY at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the U.S. Hereditary Angioedema Association (US HAEA Donation, PO Box 271561, Littleton, CO 80127).
