General News: Electronics Recycling Pick Ups in Town

The town of Cornwall Highway and Sanitation Department will begin picking up electronic items for recycling if property owners call the department to schedule the pickup.. This pickup can be arranged by calling the Highway Garage at 534-2171 or e-mail [email protected] at which time, you will be advised when to place the electronic item out for pick up.

Here’s the list of acceptable electronic equipment for recycling:


Monitors:  CRT, LCD, Security
Televisions: CRT, Flat Panel (LCD, Plasma, LED), Console, Projection
Networking Devices:  Servers, Routers, Switches, Hubs, Arrays
Printing Devices:  Printers, Fax Machines, Scanners, Copiers, Duplicators, Plotters, Typewriters
Audio/Video Devices:  CD/DVD/VHS/Blue-Ray Players, MP3 Players, iPods, Projectors, Stereos, Video Game Consoles, Speakers, Receivers (audio, cable, satellite), Recorders, Converter Boxes, Amplifiers, Equalizers.
Communication Devices:  Cell Phones, PDA’s, Telephones, Pagers, Answering Machines
Lab/Test & Measurement Devices:  Meters, Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Bit Error Rate Testers, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, Digital Multimeters, DC Power Supplies, Frequency Counters & Timers Probes & Accessories, Video Test
Telecommunication Devices
Power Supplies:  UPS’s (Uninterrupted Power Supplies), Surge Protectors
Microwaves
Peripherals:  All items used in the function of these devices (Ie. keyboards, mice, speakers, pointing devices, etc)
Wire/Cabling:  All cables, wires and power cords used in the function of these devices
Hardware:  All parts that are, or once were, part of these devices (Ie. circuit boards, hard drives, RAM, processors, power supplies, optical/floppy drives, etc)
Batteries: Only those from laptops or UPS’s

List of Unacceptable Electronic Equipment for Recycling


Computer Devices:  PC’s/Laptops
Household Hazardous Waste:  Paint, Oil, Cleaning Supplies, Medication (pills, liquids, etc)
Liquids:  Any and all liquids
Light-bulbs/Lamps:  Florescent, Incandescent, HID, Flood, PL, Biax, etc
Home Appliances:  Washers/Driers, Dishwashers, Refrigerators, Air- conditioners, Dehumidifiers, Stoves, Vacuum Cleaners, Lamps
Batteries:  Alkaline, Lead-acid, etc. (except for Laptop or UPS)
Gas Powered Equipment
Lawn Equipment
