The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum offers maple sugaring tours on Saturday and Sunday, every half hour from 10:30 am to 3 pm at the Outdoor Discovery Center on Muser Road, across from 174 Angola Rd. in the Town of Cornwall. Tours run from Sunday, March 4 through Sunday, March 25, 2012.

On Sunday, March 4, the museum will be hosting a Maple Sugar Festival to celebrate the opening day of Maple Sugaring season with crafts, games, tree tapping contests and Native American story telling at the outdoor camp fire. Sample Journey Cakes and Jack Wax, too!

The tours will tell the history of maple sugaring, as well as show to tap a tree, collct the sap and boil it down to make maple syrup. The walking tour will last approximately 45 minutes. Participants are asked advised to dress warmly and wear boots.
