Joseph P. Kelly, "Skip", passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at JFK Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL. He was 74 years old. Son of the late Joseph and Mary Mahoney Kelly, he was born on October 16, 1937 in Kilmurry McMahon, Killimer, Co. Clare, Ireland.

Joseph lived in the Bronx and worked for the MTA under the operating authority of MaBSTOA in Manhattan and the Bronx. Joseph moved with his family to Cornwall-on-Hudson in 1971. He was the proud owner of two establishments, Kelly's Riverside (Cornwall) and Puzzle's Pub (East Durham). After his retirement, he spent time in both the Catskills and Florida.
Joseph was a proud member of the Friendly Sons and Daughters of St. Patrick, of Goshen, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, of the Bronx and Cornwall, and the Knights of Columbus, of East Durham. Aside from his community involvement, Joseph loved his Irish music and a friendly game of cards. Joseph will be remembered primarily for the friendship he gave to his family and to others. Friends always surrounded him; no person was a stranger for long.
Skip was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle who will be dearly missed by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Doocey Kelly at home; his six children: Maureen Edsall and husband, Mark of Cornwall-on-Hudson, Joanne Conley and husband, Robert of Cornwall, Margaret Mary Lynch and husband, Stephen of Myrtle Beach, SC, Patricia Whalen and husband, Thomas of Cornwall-on-Hudson, Joseph Kelly of Cornwall, and Sean Kelly and wife, Kristen of Aberdeen NC; his grandchildren: Ryan Lynch and wife, Kristin, Bridget Edsall, Briana Lynch, Erin Conley, Shannon Whalen, James Edsall, Kelly Whalen, Meghan Whalen, Casey Lynch, Joseph Kelly, Riley Lynch, Jackie Kelly, Paula Kelly, Maddie Kelly and Liam Kelly; his great-grandson, Blake Lynch; his siblings: Ann Guadagno and husband, Al of Highland Falls, Clare Stephen of Rocklin, CA, Kitty Quinlivan and husband, Sean of Co. Limerick, Ireland, Evelyn Hair and husband, Noel of Co. Clare, Ireland, Flan Kelly and wife, Carmel of Co. Clare, Ireland. Joseph was predeceased by his brother, John Kelly and his sister, Mary Kelly Huxley, both of Co. Clare, Ireland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Highland Engine Company #1, Cornwall Fire Department, PO Box 22, Cornwall, NY, 12518.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 19 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 20 at St. Thomas of Canterbury, Cornwall-on-Hudson.
